Supported by a German Institution, Muhammadiyah EMT Prepares for Next Year’s Verification

PWMJATENG.COMYogyakarta – Yesterday (21/9), MDMC-ISAR Germany held the signing of the Emergency Medical Team Twinning, Training, and Transfer of Knowledge (EMT TTT) Cooperation Agreement at the Central Leadership Office of Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta. The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Dr. H. Agus Taufiqurrahman, and the Chairman of MDMC PP Muhammadiyah, H. Budi Setiawan, S.T., as well as representatives from various institutions such as ISAR Germany, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), EMT Muhammadiyah Working Group, the General Council of Public Health (MPKU) Muhammadiyah, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

This signing is part of a series of workshops that have been ongoing since last Tuesday (19/9). Its aim is to discuss and agree upon the thematic focus areas that have been identified and formulate activity plans to be implemented during the years 2023-2025. The EMT Twinning program between MDMC-ISAR Germany has received full support from the WHO Country Office (CO) in Indonesia, the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia (SEARO), and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

According to Dr. Eva Delsi, Sp.EM., who is responsible for the EMT department at MDMC, this cooperation began with a meeting between MDMC and ISAR Germany during a conference. They proposed cooperation aimed at exchanging EMT capacities at the national level. Furthermore, this project will develop into a full three-year endeavor with an emphasis on diverse experiences and knowledge exchange. Following this press conference, the activities will involve formulating follow-up action plans (RTL).

Muhammadiyah’s EMT, under the coordination of MDMC, is scheduled to undergo verification by WHO in February 2024. With ongoing preparations, the hope is that Muhammadiyah’s EMT will become the first in Indonesia to successfully pass verification, as well as the first from a religious organization. This marks a significant step toward enhancing emergency medical capacity in Indonesia.
