Emotional Scene at Camp Jhaufah! Muhammadiyah Distributes Aid to Palestinian Refugees in Jordan

PWMJATENG.COM, Jordan – Muhammadiyah once again demonstrated its concern for the suffering of the Palestinian people. Through Lazismu, Muhammadiyah Aid, and with the support of the Board of Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) in Jordan, humanitarian aid was successfully distributed to Palestinian refugees in Jordan.
The first phase of distribution took place at Al Jhaufah Camp, one of the oldest Palestinian refugee camps in the country. The aid included basic necessities, among them oatmeal supplies to help meet the nutritional needs of the refugees.
Chairman of the Lazismu Central Board, Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais, emphasized that all aid delivered represents a trust from donors and benefactors who deeply care about the plight of Palestinian refugees.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are at Camp Jhaufah to distribute aid. God willing, we will also continue to Camp Wihdat to provide similar assistance, including oatmeal for the refugees,” Rais stated on Friday (September 12).
He further added that Lazismu only serves as a conduit for the entrusted mandate from the people. “We ask for prayers so that Lazismu may remain steadfast in delivering aid to our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” he said.
Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan are not a new phenomenon. Since the Nakba of 1948, thousands of Palestinians were forced to leave their homeland. The waves of displacement continued in 1967, and the numbers grew even more after the events of October 7, 2023. This condition has made camps such as Jhaufah and Wihdat long-standing witnesses to the suffering of the Palestinian nation.

Lazismu affirmed that this action is not the first of its kind. Previously, the Muhammadiyah philanthropic institution had also distributed aid in cooperation with the Crisis Center Forum (FORCE). At one point, the distribution was even supported by the United Arab Emirates Air Force, which opened an air corridor to the refugee locations.
Muhammadiyah’s commitment to supporting Palestine is underscored by continuous efforts, whether by air or land. Every step is directed toward alleviating the burdens of refugees living under severe limitations.

In addition, the cooperation between Lazismu, Muhammadiyah Aid, and PCIM Jordan highlights the strength of global solidarity networks. Through these networks, donations from the Indonesian people can directly reach the hands of the refugees.
This concrete action has received widespread appreciation, especially from donors who have entrusted their contributions to Lazismu. Donors expressed relief that the aid they provided truly reached the intended beneficiaries.
On every occasion, Muhammadiyah stresses that the humanitarian struggle for Palestine is not mere rhetoric. The distribution of aid serves as tangible proof of Islamic solidarity while reinforcing bonds of brotherhood among nations.
With the distribution at Camp Jhaufah and the planned continuation at Camp Wihdat, Muhammadiyah hopes that this contribution may ease, even slightly, the suffering of the refugees. “We will continue to strive with all our capacity to ensure that every entrusted mandate from the people reaches those who are rightfully entitled to it,” Rais concluded.
