48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah (National Congress): Leadership Regeneration of the Largest Islamic Organization in Indonesia
PWMJATENG.COM, Semarang – Muhammadiyah, an Islamic organization with the largest business charity in Indonesia, will organize leadership regeneration this year. This regeneration is commonly referred to as Muktamar (National Congress).
The 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah will be held in conjunction with the Muktamar ‘Aisyiyah on 18-20 November 2022 in Surakarta City. It is in accordance with the decision of the 3rd Tanwir Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah in Yogyakarta on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah is planned to be opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on November 19, 2022 at the Manahan Stadium, Solo.
Some of the agendas of the congress are the Discussion of ‘Islam with Progress’, Muhammadiyah Central Leadership’s Reports, Muhammadiyah’s Programs for 2022-2027, and Election of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Members for the Period of 2022-2027.
“Muktamar Muhammadiyah will discuss ‘Islam with Progress’, Muhammadiyah Central Leadership’s Reports, Muhammadiyah’s programs for 2022-2027, and strategic issues of universal umma, nationality and humanity whose materials are ready and complete, and inshaa allah these materials will be discussed at the preliminary meeting of the Muktamar on November 5 and 6 in Surakarta which will be carried out both online and offline,” explained the General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nasir.

Some strategic issues that will be discussed at the 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah include:
- Universal issues: a) Religious Regime, b) Digital Piety, c) Brotherhood among Muslims, d) Strengthening Islamic Philanthropy Accountability Governance, e) Authenticity of Wasathiyah Islam, and f) Religious Enlightenment
- National Issues: a) Efforts to Strengthen Family Resilience, b) General Election System Reform, c) 2024 Leadership Succession, d) Evaluation of Frequently Abused Deradicalization, f) Strengthening Legal Justice, g) Inclusive and Fair Public Spatial Planning, h) Strengthening Disaster Resilience System Regulations, i) Anticipation of Aging Population, and j) Strengthening National Integrity
- Humanitarian Issues: a) Building a Peaceful and Fair World Order, b) Social Regulation of the Impacts of Climate Changes, c) Addressing Gaps Between Countries, and d) Strengthening Xenophobia.
With regard to the congress theme “Advancing Indonesia, Enlightening the Universe” Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership in Central Java Dr. KH. Tafsir, M.Ag. explained that was the mission of Muhammadiyah since its inception
“By building two main things to be advanced and smart. One with education, and the second with health,” he added.
